The lovers secretly plot to run away but the risks are terrible. Noor’s father may send members of the family to hunt them down and kill them. Do they escape? PRAIRIE SEAS, MOUNTAIN HARVEST: My teacher, her life, her legacy.
By Rosemary Rigsby - contributor to WAR, THE SEASONS and THE CHALLENGES OF FINDING LOVE.

ISBN: 978-1519260475

In 1956 Alice Marlatt, 53 years old, fled Saskatchewan. She bought a car, packed her suitcase, and drove across three provinces to teach in a one-room elementary school on Vancouver Island. She could have been a teacher in Saskatchewan, where she would have been close to her children and grandchildren, and close to the farm that had been the home of her heart since 1906. But she did not. Instead, Alice’s flight took her to a logging camp, and 10 to 15 hopeful young faces. For twelve years, Alice taught her charges not only skills for life and learning, but everything else that she knew, and thought they would need. Upon retirement, Alice said goodbye to her many British Columbia friends and returned to Saskatchewan. Beginning with her Ontario birth in 1903, Alice’s story entwines with stories of life in a 50s logging camp. Alice’s dedication, humour, and convictions made a life-long impression on at least one student in that one-room school; one who needed to solve the mystery of her teacher’s escape from prairie shadows to mountain mists. FIVE NIGHTS IN A TURTLE: Not your ordinary Hawaiian vacation
By Rosemary Rigsby - contributor to WAR, THE SEASONS and THE CHALLENGES OF FINDING LOVE.
ISBN: 978-1979594233

When they thought about the ideal Hawaiian Vacation, they knew right off that they didn’t want ordinary. In their minds this meant neither resorts nor even hotels. These were not places where they could truly relax as they did in their travel trailer or rented cabin. A Bed & Breakfast might have been more in line with what they liked best, but then they read that article. The one about camping the Big Island in a Volkswagen van. “That’s exactly our style,” was their collective thinking – something simple, uncomplicated, and fun. They had no idea that those checkboxes would be accompanied by “frightening” and “unexpected eye-opener” and “a good lesson in gratitude.” Their Hawaiian vacation was quite the ride, so hop on board and come along to see what they found out during “Five Nights in a Turtle.” CLICK HERE to read an interview with Rosemary. "The poet deploys dramatic effects, prose features and poetry devices to hook the reader piece after piece.
